Happy news for those who are having Provident Fund (PF) account. Now, you can get updates on your PF Account balance Through SMS. For getting this facility, the members will have to furnish their PF Account Number. In an effort to make the system transperant, the EmployeesProvident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has initiated this facility. A link has been created in the website http://www.epfindia.com , clicking on which the members can get the update on their PFaccount balance as SMS on their mobile phones. Along with this, the EPFO has also started online tracking of PF claims. Further, the employee can regularly check, whether the amount, which is being deducted every month from his salary, is getting deposited with EPFO. If he/she finds any discrepancy, the individual can take the matter up with the employer or with the EPFO.

The details for each of the 120 EPFO offices in the country are available on the official website http://www.epfindia.com . The EPFO has decided that all the PF accounts will be updated on their website by December 2011.
